Species Selection for a Marine Finfish Farm

The following report has been completed as part of the NOAA SeaGrant award.

Explore the steps and analysis for species selection of an open ocean Caribbean farm

Innovasea is leading a NOAA SeaGrant funded project to plan, de-risk, and pre-permit an open ocean commercial finfish farm off the west coast of Puerto Rico. This report, dedicated to species selection, is the first in a collection of reports outlining process and key decisions for the farm.

The project includes socioeconomics experts from Puerto Rico, aquaculture operations and finance managers from Cuna del Mar, Puerto Rico SeaGrant officer Rene Estevas Amador, and a local, on-site Aquaculture Services team.
